Jorge Abian stands in front of the Maya Ruins in Tulum, Mexico. An astonishing landmark landscape located in the Yucatan Province.

Somewhere around Death Valley’s desert on the edge of the border between California and Nevada the sun began to fall. I remember her saying something like “it’s like we could do whatever we want-whenever we wanted”. Having a guest staying at my place in Santa Monica I had just discovered how easy was to travel for free.

Then it was quiet again. My mind had forgotten everything and I was in a dream state. The desert has a balanced soul that keeps you tranquil in solitude.

Here is a link to my house in LA that I happily rent to other people in order travel for free.

I use Airbnb or Craigslist to rent my houses. I convert them into a hotel room for as long as I need to.

Making 4 figures a week.

$169 a night. That’s what I charge for my Santa Monica studio. That means if someone stays 7 days at my house I have $1.120 to spend somewhere else, and that means I can go almost everywhere.

The last few months I’ve been in Hawaii (twice), Big Sur (at least 4 times), Spain, Lake Tahoe, Palm Springs, Coachella Desert for the Coachella Music Festival, New York, London, Japan, Philippines, Santa Cruz, San Francisco, Sedona, Mexico City, Cabos, Cerritos, Todos Santos, Pebble Beach, Victorville, Nosara in Costa Rica… and many more amazing spots before I would only dream about. And the best thing is that my studio (now 4 studios in LA) paid for all those travels.

Travel Gratis

Travelling gratis means you only have to make sure you don’t spend more than you earn. That should do. If you make $130-$180 a day and you are traveling with your car, well, you have around a $100 for a hotel room and the rest for food. Leave an extra $10 a day for gas and you’ll be fine.

If you are planning to go somewhere further, use common sense. A plane is easy (and cheap sometimes) to take, and it will take you to any city in the world. If you are going to a place where the value of your home coin is high, $100 a day for food and a place to stay should do.

Have fun, take risks, pack light and discover all the new places you’ve always dreamt with, it’s free!
